Debbie and her young cheerleader friends are faced with a dilemna. They have to find a way to pay for the trip to Dallas, so they form an organization dedicated to serving their clients, for a price of course. The Original Debbie Does Dallas is far more of a movie than the modern versions, which like many of today's pornos are essentially a gallery of sex scenes strung together with a semblance of a plot. The Original very much plays on the innocence factor. The young, perky high school cheerleaders offer their 'services' to their teachers and bosses in order to raise money (seems like they're always trying to raise money.) The sex is a fulfillment of that teenage girls screwing older men fantasy. `Oh Mr. Greenfield, I'm not that kind of girl. Oh my Mr. Greenfield, you're so big!' The girls are all very attractive with wonderfully natural bodies. If you like looking at small, round breasts over and over again this is the movie for you. Debbie Does Dallas is a famous 1978 pornographic movie starring Bambi Woods and Christie Ford (appearing under the name of Misty Winter).

The plot of the film focuses on a team of cheerleaders attempting to earn enough money to send the title character to Dallas, Texas to try out for the famous Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad. In the movie the squad had the fictional name "Cowgirls", but it was seen as a take on the real-life Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Each girl finds that she can make extra money during her afterschool job by having a sexual encounter with her employer. Debbie has been chosen to go to Dallas and become "cowgirl", but she has to raise the money herself since her parents are opposed to going. Debbie has only two weeks, but her cheerleader friends offer to help raise enough money so they all can go. As the girls start looking for jobs, they gather in the locker room to discuss their progress and their problems. When the last girl leaves, four males and two females go in. Debbie gets a job in Greenfield's store, and on the third day he suggests that "There are other jobs girls can do." Contrary to the title, the film is not set in Dallas nor does the titular Debbie "do" anyone in or from Dallas. Several scenes in the film were shot at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in their library and in their gymnasium's sauna without the administration's knowledge or approval, as well as on the field west of H-Quad at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. The movie spawned a number of sequels and spin-offs including Debbie Does New Orleans and Debbie Does Wall Street. It has also been remade with contemporary porn stars. In 2002 Debbie Does Dallas was made into an off-Broadway musical comedy. Unlike the original movie, the musical does not contain any sex or nudity, which caused some disappointment among people, as false hype had been made and the musical's producers did nothing to dismiss it.

The movie is still copyrighted and distributed by VCX Ltd, an adult studio specializing in classic 1970-1995 pornography.

Bambi Woods (believed to have been born c. 1959 in Pierre, South Dakota) is one of the most famous erotic actresses in the adult film industry, due to her appearance as the title character in the 1978 film Debbie Does Dallas. Appearing in only four known films - Debbie Does Dallas and its 1981 and 1985 sequels, and another film called Swedish Erotica 12 in 1981 - the common, yet questioned, story is that she died of an overdose of illegal drugs in 1986. Woods' exact name and eventual fate are unknown. It has been suggested that her real name was Debbie DeSanto or Barbara Woodson. A 2005 British Channel 4 documentary, The Dark Side of Porn: Debbie Does Dallas Uncovered, employed the services of a private investigator to track down Woods, yet the investigator was unable find anyone by the name Barbara Woodson, or even verify that anyone of this name had died in 1986. It has been suggested that Woods left the industry and started a new, anonymous life where she would not be known by her past as a porn star.

In publicity for Debbie Does Dallas it was sometimes claimed that Woods had been a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. For example, a theatrical trailer has Woods stating "in real life I was a Dallas Cowgirl". This is untrue. Debbie Does Dallas appeared in 1978 and became one of the five best selling pornos of all time, providing relief from the diet of violent X-rated material that dominated the '70s. Bambi Woods and Misty Winter star in this well-photographed flick about a group of girls trying to get money so they can go to Dallas to tryout to be Cowboy Cheerleaders. The fresh looking young women appear naked in the shower in a famous scene that is copied by R-rated Porkys four years later.

After the movie, performer Bambi Woods disappeared from porn as quickly as she arrived. Debbie Does Dallas exemplifies happy California porn and is one of the five films profiled in the 1986 Attorney General's Report on Pornography.
